And so this is silence?
Guardian of reality,
though never exactly what we see or feel.
I met you at my darkest edge walking a boundary perception imposed.
You denying all noise called the moment silence;
I never suspecting your world of wider horizons closed my eyes…but now, as memories fade, we walk where we should have walked before.
And those memories? Watching sunsets and colours, thrilling at the chill of mountain streams in valleys we roamed, then speaking of realities we dared not speak … truths left unspoken like vows of timid hearts.
Still alone in silent confession I can't know what to do … I'm left alone to love.
And so this is dreamtime?
Keeper of illusions,
then of promises we may find once more.
You led me to the lighter edge and wisely thought to ask "Is wisdom always true?"
Where understanding set her limits on spirits yearning dreamtime we breached her walls of unbelief until, freed by our illusions, we could believe this world once more.
And of dreamtime came cherished nights to touch freedom beyond the daily veil,
came teasers of allusions we dared not live for days of new mythology,
came bearers of promises to feel when all our needs are gone.
Still alone in these humdrum days I come reaching for our dreams … we foolishly left them with our words.
And so this our travelling?
Though not all rise
let alone walk this lonely road.
There will be no knowing what to hope … I have left to love and wonder what each day's work will be.
Now waiting, just waiting before that once forgotten moon … but you may not walk this night … do you hear as I call out from my silence?
Not knowing, should I speak? I am left to pray … "And so this is silence…"

From Nessa O'Mahony
"There is something intensely hypnotic about the combination of images and words in Robin Bradbury's work. The visual creates a sense of dreamscape rather than landscape and the texts (which are a strange blend of poetry and prose) act as meditations to tease out those dreamed images.
Although the texts don't act as commentaries on the individual images, which have their own intact beauty and self-sufficiency, we read them in a mood created by those stunning visuals of light and dark and the shades between dawn and dusk. There is a numinous quality to their combination; we sense as we read that we are exploring holy ground. Thus one man's intensely personal recollections become a wider, more universal territory to which each reader can bring his or her own experiences.
Art-lovers will be able to lose themselves in sheer beauty of the images, while lovers of writing, of pure wisdom born by long experience, will cherish the words that accompany them."
